Breathing new life into an existing campus building
San Antonio Independent School District breathed new life into an old campus building. The interior build-out had to be flexible. The student population was expected to grow, so the space needed to adapt. The school district also wanted the ability to respond to pedagogy changes. The intensive renovation was further challenged by an ambitious construction schedule - all to get done before the start of the school year.
DIRTT's rapid construction coupled with innate responsiveness rose to the challenge. Technology is integrated into the space to meet the needs of today, while it's ready to respond to changes.
The renovation covered two floors and part of a basement. The project included:
- 12 classrooms
- four conference rooms
- teacher lounges
- administrative spaces
- collaborative corridors
- server room
- support spaces
After just one year, the school opened its doors to a freshman class of 175 students in August of 2017. The school works with industry partners to prepare students for careers in technology and business.
